Khurda district asserted supremacy in the State Level Women Sports Meet, bagging the overall champions` trophy in athletics and titles in hockey and tennis at Kalinga Stadium here today. Khurda athlete Sekunta Kullu clinched a treble, winning titles in 100m sprint, long jump and 4x100m relay.
Her district-mate Jasmi Kisku bagged a double by winning the top honour in both 100m and 400m hurdles events. Salmi Kispotta (Sundargarh) and Mitali Mallik (Puri) also secured a double each by.
Jagatsinghpur stopped Khurda from making a clean sweep all four titles by emerging champions in handball, defeating Cuttack 9-2 in the final. Jajpur finished third with an 8-0 win over Ganjam. In the hockey final, Khurda blanked Sundargarh 3-0 with Dipti Lakra striking twice and Birajini Ekka contributing one goal. Dhenkanal occupied the third position, edging out Sambalpur 4-2 in penalty shoot out.
